Earlier, Vivek, who made a hit film titled 'The Tashkent Files' on the mysterious death of India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, told that making this film was not that easy. Vivek told, 'In the year 2018, Surendra Kaul asked about making a film on the sad story of Kashmiri Pandits. After discussing it with my wife Pallavi, I agreed to it and then we did video interviews with Kashmiri Pandits spread across the world.

At the same time, the lead actor of the film Anupam Kher said, 'We always wanted to bring this painful story to the general public, but till now the reason for not making this film was the attitude of the governments till now. Now that the central government removed Article 370 from Kashmir, we too gathered the courage to make a film on Kashmiri Pandits. Of course, a major reason for the making of this film is the current central government, which cannot be denied. He was also surprised that after all, for the first time in 30 years, someone was talking to him about this painful accident. By the time we returned after recording the horrifying story on cameras, we had already started receiving threats. I told my wife that we will have to face all the difficulties and dangers in making this film, but she said that the way soldiers on the border fight for the country, in the same way we will fight as cultural soldiers of the country. Now with the making of this film, the whole world is facing a story about which only a select few knew till now.
