The ashes of late Lata Mangeshkar immersed in the holy Ramkund of Nashik
The family members of late singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar immersed her ashes in the holy Ramkund on the banks of river Godavari on Thursday morning. Lata's nephew Adinath Mangeshkar, sister Asha Bhosle and other relatives were present during this last ceremony.
Earlier, a small prayer meeting was organized by Hindu priests in the presence of family and some close people. Later, the ashes were immersed in the holy Ramkund. It is worth mentioning that Lord Shri Ram used to take his daily bath in the holy Ramkund during his 14 years of exile and he also performed Shradh of his father King Dasharatha here.
Musician Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 at Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. Her last in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, various Union and state cabinet ministers and Bollywood celebs. The ceremony was performed with full state honours.
At the same time, Lata Di's brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar had lit her dead body. The next day Adinath Mangeshkar collected the 'bones' copper urns and finally immersed them in the holy Ramkund here. Earlier, the ashes of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, YB Chavan and many other leaders were also immersed at this holy place.
