Interview with bestselling author Anurag Mishra
Bestselling author Anurag Mishra talks to FilmyNaka.com about the craft of storytelling.
Question: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Answer: I was always fascinating about writing, but I am a small town boy, so it was not easy to do writing, but after graduation, I took it seriously and started writing and I want to say that, I am not a good writer, but I am trying and I think one day I will do something better.
Question: How long does it take you to write a book?
Answer: It depends, but yeah, if you want to write a good book, you have to take time like six months, one year and the main thing is an idea and an idea will make you a good writer. In my opinion, writing is not important, an idea and a concept of something is precious.
Question: What is your work schedule like when you're writing?
Answer: I am also a food enthusiast and I also have a you tube channel with the name Rishi Ki Rasoi for food vlogging and cooking, so main thing is that, I learnt everything related to you tube channel by myself and working on a channel is not easy, it's like a company and you have to give your time for it, so whenever I got time, I started writing and it's like meditation for me.
Question: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Answer: I always try to do something different than others and that's my quirk.
Question: How do books get published?
Answer: you can go to a traditional publishers, who will offer you a contract, but it's difficult now-a-days, because it's like a business now-a-days. Publishers wants to earn money from normal writers, so they are not interested in everyone and you can hire a company also and an agent or that self publishing also an option.
Question: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?
Answer: The idea for my own books usually comes from observing the world around me, and from imagining scenarios that suit the situation. Book ideas simmer in your head, and then evolve over a period of time and Life experiences often lead to good ideas for books.
Question: When did you write your first book and how old were you?
Answer: I wrote my first book, when I was in third year of my college and it get published in 2017 and i finished my first manuscript at the age of 22.
Question: What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Answer: I would like to do vlogging, open mic, cooking, writing and watching motivational videos.
Question: What does your family think of your writing?
Answer: My dad is supportive but pragmatic. The odds of making enough money to support myself is not easy from writing.He is a pragmatic person, who believes in employment and my elder brother Ashutosh always supporting me for my writing and he is like a mentor for me.
Question: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
Answer: The most surprising thing is that I learned during creating books was ideas and research and also to write a book with simplicity, but editing, proofreading, promotion and many things related to it were not my cup of tea.
Question: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
Answer: I has been written three books, first book's name is struggle of a star and a beautiful love story and second one is safalta tay hai and third one is hardaul ek mahan shasak and my favorite one is safalta tay hai, because it is a motivational book and keeps me motivating and more perfect than other two.
Question: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?
Answer: keep writing and write it with happiness and it's like your job, do it regularly with enthusiasm and also read every day and try to become a better version of yourself and do mistakes and people will also criticize you and one day you will do something great.
Question: Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Answer: They said to me, improve your self every time and do something more better than that of it and it's like good for me.
Question: What do you think makes a good story?
Answer: An idea makes a good story and writing is not as important as an idea.
Question: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
Answer: when I was a child, I didn't know, what I have to do, but I always keep learning and learning makes you better ...I was from a middle class family and I had same goals like medical or engineering, but due to pressure of society.
